What's going to happen next?

This is a reply on “what’s going to happen next?” on his post “Barack Obama already taking charges.” I agree that he has been busy wasting no time on constructing his administration. He has already come up with several plans on the major issues clouding America. I also agree if his plans does work and succeed it will shut up everyone who doubted him from the beginning. It will open thousands of jobs to the unemployed, and already started brain storming with his economic team on fixing the economy. Obama has been busy building his administration. Smart move for Obama as, he prepares himself when the time comes to step into the White House. It will be tough for Obama to try and fix every major problem America has, but change is what the American people are counting on with Obama. He had made smart moves and choices when needed during his campaign, and I believe he will make more smart moves and decisions in the next 4 years
This post seems really easy for the public audience to understand. This post seems to be well put and written, making it easy for the audience to understand. Happy holidays to everyone and hope everyone a safe and wonderful Christmas!

Can we Trust Obama?

Can we trust Obama? Sure he said this and that to win votes to become the 44th president, but can we really trust him? He stomped on McCain during the presidential election, so the voters must have a lot of faith in him and trust him. I know I can trust him.
Even though I didn’t really keep up with the presidential election one thing caught my attention, and that was health care. I didn’t really agree with McCain’s health care plans, because giving the people tax credits will add more to the economic crisis. Some people might not use the tax credit to buy health care and buy something else. On the other hand I did agree with Obama’s health care plan. Giving the people cheap and affordable health insurance will work and cost less for the government. McCain's plan would reduce the number of uninsured Americans by 1.3 million over the coming decade at a total cost of $1.3 billion. Obama's plan would reduce the ranks of the uninsured by 34 million at a cost of $1.63 billion. During the first year of implementation, McCain's proposed plan would dent the federal budget to the tune of $185 billion, while Obama's plan would require $86 billion (GardnerAmanda). We cannot overlook this fact considering the time of Economic Crisis. There is a big difference in the money that the government will spend, and number of people who will be covered.
Hearing his speeches and listening to his interview on 60 Minutes, and how he gained the respect of the people. I believe he will be a great president. There are a lot of eyes watching every step of Obama during his term of presidency, and he won’t let the people who voted for him down and most importantly America. I’m looking forward of Obama being president, and to carry out his plans and promises.

IGOV

After reading “I think we should vote,” I started to think all the different excuses on not voting, and I agree to her post. Maybe people are just too lazy, busy, or just don’t want to. I heard many funny ones and a lot of corny ones. My personal favorite is “my vote won’t make a difference, it’s just 1 vote it won’t make a difference.” If our vote really didn’t count, presidential candidates would not try so hard to win our votes. No need for them to persuade the people. Our vote gives us the voice and the power in the political game, and that is something no one can take away. One vote can make a difference in an election.
I agree with Deborah, that America is spoiled. So many people made so many sacrifices, so that America can have the things that are present today. I think the people have forgotten we as a nation went through just to have the rights and freedoms we have today. The author gives the audience the history/ list of voting Amendments (women given the right to vote, voting age set at 18). This is great for the audience who did not know much on voting. People lost their lives so that we can vote, and I think we have taken that for granted. It’s sad to see our country like this.
This Presidential election was exciting. We had an increase in voter turn outs, and in result the first Africa American President. We should be grateful in the opportunities we had this year on voting (ex: early voting, voting through mail). The government put in a lot of effort to get more people to vote, and I think it worked. If you didn’t vote, you have no right to say or criticize.

America Sucks in Education!!

What are we going to do as a nation to fix our dropout rates? It seems that America is taking another step towards to fix or decrease high school dropout rates. It is said that 1 of every 4 Americans dropout. That’s a pretty big number if you were to ask me. It seems that the “No Child Left Behind” that was pasted in 2001 hasn’t been working as it should have been working. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings is taking this issue into her own hands to fix this problem, by setting new rules and regulations towards high school dropouts. It is said that now these days’ children are to have a lesser chance of receiving a high school diploma then their parents. I guess most parents don’t see the big picture of our education problem, so to show parents how serious this problem is, the Department of Education and Margaret Spellings are getting schoolsand states to keep a better track of dropouts and graduation rates. Getting every state to keep a record, so parents and the public will be informed what goes on in school. This will also help the department to focus on troubling states. All 50 states agreed to enact a uniform graduation rate, but only 16 states up held its agreement. The federal government is starting to require states that do not fulfill its agreement to develop a plan to accomplish that agreement, but must be approved by the Department of Education first.
I still remember the times of my high school life even though it wasn’t that long ago, but one thing that I remembered clearly was my education. I know that America is way behind in education compared to other countries. I’ve spent my whole life in America, and when I struggled in school all my friends from Korea breezed through high school like it was nothing. Sometimes I was made of fun of because of my lack of knowledge, but we all knew the truth. Education in America is a joke and all my friends seen that, but I believe that now people are stepping up to the plate to make some changes and improve or catch up on education.

Hillary Clinton!!! >.<

Hillary’s women already have power
The author of this blog is Hillary Rosen, who is an Anderson Cooper 360 contributor. Her intended audience was the Democratic supporters of America and most importantly women in America. She congratulates Sen. Clinton on her speech at the Democratic Convention. She spoke with power and passion to reach out to undecided voters all in 23 minutes. “She did everything she needed to achieve for a united party and a dignified conclusion to her campaign for her supporters. I think she gave the speech of her life”. As she continues to praise Hillary she starts to mention about how women in today’s society come a long way. She writes that a women who works hard for many years for the same company, all have seen a younger gentlemen come in and get the promotion. Rosen’s real argument is that women today not just in America but all over the world are not given as much credit as a male and Hillary Clinton represents all the women who do not have a voice. Hillary changed the views and roles for women in politics.
I agree with Hillary Rosen. To me Hillary Clinton gives the women in America the voice and courage they need. Even though I support Obama in the presidential race, I believe Hillary would be a better fit for the job. It’s just my opinion, but I want to see how differently things will be run by a female president instead of a male one.
Hope everyone did well on the exam this past Tuesday. >.<

Is Palin really ready?

The article I have chosen to evaluate is “Palin’s Words Raise Red Flags” in The New York Times. The author mainly targets the readers who are for McCain and Palin for the presidential election. He questions the audience if whether Sarah Palin is qualified to be vice president if McCain happens to win the election. He talks about how vice president should be ready at any moment to lead and take command of our nation. He gives great examples of vice presidents who have stepped up to the plate to become the next president who either has died or leave of office (Harry Truman and Lyndon Johnson). He argues that Ms. Palin has not yet given any signs whether or not she is ready to become vice president. He gives the audience more evidence that Ms. Palin is not ready in an interview by Katie Couric of CBS News on foreign policy. He states that her performance was poor, and would “generate a hearty laugh.” Cleary he argues that Ms. Palin is not ready to become vice president, or furthermore not ready to step up to the plate to become president if something was to happen to the president.
I agree with the author about how Ms. Palin is not ready for the position of vice president. Even though I missed the big debate Biden vs. Palin, I stand here strongly that Palin is not ready for the job for vice president. With John McCain’s age who knows what might happen to him, and furthermore is Palin the right person to take the job of president?

McCain or Obama (Iraq)

What do you think about our troops still deployed in Iraq? Are you in favor or oppose the war? While others think that America should help the country in need, I think differently and oppose of the war.
While the two presidential candidates argue, and give their insight on what will be done if elected president. The question is why are our troops still in Iraq? We've already found what we were looking for (Saddam Hussein). I think that are main focus should be on Afghanistan.
I agree on Obama and his decision on withdrawing of troops and ending the war. McCain plans on keeping American troops till Iraq can stand up on its own two feet, spending billions and billions more money for a cause that shouldn't be funded anymore. We should think about our problems first before anything else (credit crisis). Our nation can use that money on things that our nation needs (education, environment, and Hurricane).
Obama has a plan on ending the war and withdraw of troops. McCain has no plan on ending the war or withdrawing of troops. If the war continues, so will our nation's debt. So are you in favor or oppose the war?
